We believe that schools and staff have an important role to to play in innovating the future through the way we are educating our students today. It is important to us that our staff is equipped with the skills and resources to support every child in their learning journey. Facilitating professional development opportunities for staff encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing to advance student achievement in the classroom.
CATC By the Water (Computers Across the Curriculum) – also known as CATC Camp – is a unique professional development opportunity that allows educators to take on the role of learner. “The learning that happens at CATC camp models what can happen in teachers’ classrooms. Teachers become inspired learners and they can bring that excitement back to their students.” says Rebecca Rouse, Instructional Technology Consultant. “At CATC Camp, teachers are responsible their own learning and collaborate with others to deepen their understanding of teaching, technology and curriculum.”
Last August, over 125 educators and staff spent three days together at Kempenfelt Bay Conference Centre on the shores of Lake Simcoe to network, collaborate and learn new skills that they can bring back to their classrooms. CATC Camp provides educators the opportunity to learn and share how innovative instructional technology can advance student learning. Through the introduction of new technology, special programming and customized support, we are able to build students’ confidence as they face the future.
Thank you to the facilitators and participants that made this year’s event such a success. We are looking forward to inspiring a new cohort of educators in August 2018.
